I Believe I Play Guitar

I started playing the guitar back in Middle school, 7th grade to be more exact. At first I borrowed an electric guitar from a friend until later when my parents bought be my first one from eBay. I picked it up pretty quickly, and was able to learn any song (realistically easy song) I wanted to in about a day per song. All I wanted to do then was play guitar, all day long. Some days I did. I played until my fingers hurt so bad I just couldn't play anymore. After about 4 years of heavy practice, in high-school I started a band with a friend. It was what I always wanted to do, and one of the main reasons I started playing guitar. I enjoyed it more than anything at that time, and I continued to enjoy it until my freedom to play music at venues was taken from me. After a long while I joined another band, one that was a bit more serious. More concerts to play, some recording, and a lot more practice. I was in this band longer than the other, and enjoyed it even more. We played several shows before I left the band. My wife had just gotten pregnant and it was time to find a better paying job and work more hours. Ever since then I might pick up a guitar once every 3 months. I still love it, but when life changes you have to change with it.   288 words

  1. When I was six or seven I would always sing at church with my Grandma, while she played the guitar. After a while she taught me to play a few songs on the guitar, but I soon grew tired of it and stopped practicing. I wish I would’ve kept playing. I think it’s such a great talent to have.

  2. My oldest got a guitar for Christmas a couple of years ago. He took lessons for awhile. He is just too busy with sports right now to do much with it. I hope he wants to try again when he gets older!

  3. I admire your talent! I have always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I have always loved to sing and think it would have been great if only I would have learned how to play guitar too. I have picked up a guitar and the music that came out of it certainly did not sound like music to my ears so the fact that you caught on to it so quickly shows that is something you should continue doing.

  4. I wish I knew how to play guitar, I've always wanted to learn how to play. I don't really have the time right now to juggle anything else, but one of these days I'll pick one up and learn.
